First of all some background information: LUCITE® MultiResist PRO was already introduced in 2018 and has been on the market ever since. At that time the focus was particularly on the resistance to germs and on mould prevention in connection with a healthy living atmosphere and not on the resistance to viruses. However, in the course of time and especially in the current situation, Dörken concerned themselves in which way they could contribute positively by using the existing product portfolio. It is true, avoidance of contact infection is just one little step in the field of prevention. Nevertheless, it is very important to reduce the spread of viruses in all possible ways – above all in view of the current coronavirus situation – to reduce the pressure on our health care system. We hope that by using LUCITE® MultiResist PRO contact infections can be kept to a minimum. It is important to take into account every possible way to avoid infections – because every infection can endanger lives, which must be protected.
LUCITE® MultiResist PRO owes its name to the fact that the wall paint protects against various kinds of infestation. Independent test laboratories tested and assessed the product and determined the following characteristics:
After only 24 hours no more germs can be detected and as a consequence the risk of infections via contaminated walls can be excluded. Mould, bacteria and viruses (enveloped viruses and non-enveloped viruses, for example norovirus, rotavirus and coronavirus) cannot exist on surfaces painted with LUCITE® MultiResist PRO.
An independent test laboratory tested the product using a model virus. The bovine coronavirus (BoCV) belongs to the genus betacoronavirus (like SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2) and is in principle a suitable surrogate virus with comparable properties and reactions to environmental influences. The test was carried out according to the international standard ISO 21702:2019.
What is special about the water dilutable wall paint is that it does not contain any hazardous substances or preservatives – the resistance is achieved without the use of biocides – and as a result it is absolutely harmless for humans, animals and the environment. In addition, it is free from volatile organic compounds which may possibly cause unpleasant odour as well as headaches and irritations of eyes and mucous membranes. Last but not least, the wall paint does not contain allergenic substances which is a relief for allergy sufferers.

LUCITE® MultiResist PRO can be used in many different areas:
One of the advantages of the product is that neither during the application nor during the drying process odour nuisance caused by solvents or hazardous substances occurs. This allows to carry out painting works also during ongoing operation or at the weekends.
The product is perfect for various surfaces: it can be applied directly on glass fabrics, glass fleece, woodchip wallpaper and sound existing coatings. This applies as well for not yet painted mineral surfaces such as plasters (mortar groups P I, P II and P III), calcareous sandstone masonry and concrete.
For more detailed information please refer to the Technical Data Sheet of the product.
Apply the wall paint in the same way as a typical mineral wall paint. To obtain a homogeneous surface finish it is recommended to proceed as follows:
This depends completely on the condition and type of surface. To guarantee the product’s characteristics and in order to apply a sufficiently thick layer two coats of LUCITE® MultiResist PRO have to be applied. It is recommended to apply approximately 125 ml/m².
LUCITE® MultiResist PRO is dry and can be painted over after 4 hours. This means that renovation works can easily be performed, for example at the weekend.
